Socioeconomic

When you want to understand the relationship between the economy and the environment, IMSG offers socioeconomic expertise to help you evaluate and appreciate the implications of specific environmental changes. Partnering with our customers, we measure the social and economic effects of certain actions, and study how to better achieve the results they desire. Our IMSG team of natural resource economists, program evaluators, and cultural resource specialists apply rigorous methods to create environmental solutions that make sense for communities – economically, socially and culturally.

Examples of our work include:

  • Analysis of the physical, socio-economic, and ecosystem impacts of sea-level change.
  • Maritime documentation and assessment, including database development of undersea threats.
  • Socioeconomic assessments of habitat restoration alternatives as part of natural resource damage assessment projects.
  • Analysis to determine compensation for habitat injuries (e.g. sea grass, coral reefs, salmon streams) related to vessel groundings, spills, and hazardous waste.
  • Ecosystem valuation on restoration projects such as dam removals as well as coastal blue carbon services.
