04 Jun IMSG and NOAA Recognized for Creative Series at 2025 Blue Pencil & Gold Screen Awards

PITTSBURGH, PA – May 21, 2025 — I. M. Systems Group, Inc. (IMSG), a Rockville, Maryland based science and technology firm, in concert with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), were recognized at the National Association of Government Communicators (NAGC) 2025 Blue Pencil & Gold Screen (BPGS) Awards Ceremony. The Third-Place was awarded to IMSG and NOAA in the K–12 Educational Program category for achievements in media creativity and production, specifically for NOAA’s series “Teek and Tom Explore Planet Earth,” a five-part animated series designed for 4th-6th grade students.

Receiving the award on behalf of the IMSG/NOAA Environmental Visualization Laboratory (VizLab) creative team was IMSG Chairman and President Ms. Imelda Martin and IMSG VizLab Project Leader, Mr. Rafael de Ameller. Notably, IMSG’s VizLab Graphics Expert and key member of the VizLab team, Ms. Tiffany Small, served as one of the animators and part of the field crew. At the award ceremony held on May 21st, at the Pittsburgh Sheraton Hotel at Station Square, Imelda Martin commented “I am proud of the Team for the Award in this international event as it exemplifies the importance of NOAA and IMSG VizLab teamwork. More importantly, it truly illustrates the positive and motivational impact we intended in encouraging young people to gain interest in sciences and technology.” Continuing, Martin commented that “the need for the future scientists will come from small ideas that build into great leaders in the community.”

The 2025 Blue Pencil & Gold Screen (BPGS) Awards Ceremony is an annual NAGC Award and Recognition event celebrating government communication and, in this Award, specifically IMSG and NOAA’s work in the K–12 Educational Program category.

This Award is another example of community contribution and benefit of the series as Teek and Tom continues to earn accolades, having recently won four 2025 Telly Awards, including two Gold Tellys for sound design and voice-over/narration.
